Most people have a travel bucket list. Mine, keeps changing and updating.
Last year, I’ve been spending most of my time in London completing my London Bucket List. This year, my goal was to travel MORE. I opened 2017 with a solo trip to Berlin, Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. I was also lucky enough to spend a week in Zanzibar. As the year evolves, I’m facing with the hard decision of where to travel to next.
For that reason, I decided to update my bucket list and prioritize. In this post, I’m not only listing the places that I want to go to, but I’m also explaining why. I feel like we each have our reasons why we want to visit certain places and why we haven’t yet, so I wanted to share these reasons and plans with you.
These are my top choices to visit this year and why:
This beautiful island has been on my travel bucket list for ages! I never really booked a trip there because it’s only 1 hour plane ride from my home (Israel). So I always thought “Santorini is so close, I can always go there”. Until I realized that it has been three years since I had that trip on my mind but still didn’t book it. SO I FINALLY DID IT! The trip is booked and I’m headed there in few weeks.
I been to Vegas when I was 18 years old with my family and obviously I didn’t experience it properly when it comes to partying. I decided that this year it’s finally time to go. I’ve got to there before life gets too serious and complicated.
When I was 21 and all my girlfriends went on a trip to Thailand and I didn’t go with them because I was living in NY at the time. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t regret the time I spent in NY. But I definitely regret not going to Thailand when I had a chance. Ever since then, I never had the opportunity to go or someone to go with. Last year I met my boyfriend and we been planning to go to Thailand this year as a part of a long trip, so I’ll finally be able to go.
I been to Italy several times before, but never to that part of the country. Ever since I saw photos from Portofino and the coast all over Instagram I decided that I’m definitely going there this year. This area of Italy is up high on my travel bucket list.
Aruba in my view is one of the most beautiful islands in the world! I especially want to visit Aruba to see the pink flamingos. I’m working on planning a trip to Miami with a weekend in Aruba for me and my boyfriend this summer. Finger crossed it happens this year!
4 years ago I visited Mexico with friends and people that I met there while traveling. We traveled as a big group and I just went along with everybody to wherever they decided to go. Back then, my style of traveling was different. I didn’t plan nor did any research; I just went with the flow. While this traveling style can be liberating and carefree, it is also a downsize. Not being aware of where I was and what’s around made me miss visiting Tulum, even though I was nearby in Playa del Carmen. I don’t regret not going to Tultum at the time because it gives me the perfect reason to visit Mexico again and have it on my travel bucket list.
Recently, there is hype around visiting Cuba in the sense that it became “trendy” to go there. But me, I wanted to visit Cuba long before it became in “style”. I guess I never been there because it is relatively far and I never had the chance. I really hope that this will be the year that I get to visit Cuba.
Of course, this list still might change. I might have the opportunity to go to other places I’m interested in or I might not being able to go to some of these ones.
