How I Spent my Valentine’s Day The Unconventional Way

I didn’t spend my Valentine’s Day the traditional way in a restaurant or a movie with my boyfriend. In fact, I wasn’t even with my boyfriend. So where DID I spent it? I spent it on a 6-hour plane ride.

I flew to Zanzibar, Tanzania with my cousin and half of our day we spent flying. When we finally arrived to our hotel, right before sunset, we found this cute “I LOVE U” writing on the sand with roses, which we assumed was made by the hotel staff. Behind us was a table with two chairs, set up perfectly for a romantic setting.

But hey, not everything in life is perfect. I also fell off a hammock, and my cousin felt the need to document it.

Valentine’s Day can be celebrated in many ways, whether you’re in a relationship or single, and it certaintly doesn’t have to be celebrated the commerical way with flowers, chocolates or expensive meals. This year, I was lucky enough to celebrate it doing one of my favorite things in the world: exploring a new place. In my next posts I’ll tell you ALL about my trip, but for now this is still work in progress.

How did you celebrate Valentine’s Day this year?

I see your VD was really different. But at least your cousin was with you and maybe you sent these pictures with the heart to your boyfriend? Lovely pictures btw!

I couldn’t agree more, Valentine’s Day should celebrate love in general in its many forms, not just the romantic kind of love. I’m glad you enjoyed the time spent with your cousin and exploring a new country; I’ve never read a post on a travel experience in Tanzania before, so I look forward to reading! Thanks for sharing, babe, and I hope you’re having a great day so far!

I think it is a lovely way that the hotel staff welcomed you. I am sure that was one of your most original Valentine’s Days.
    Have a wonderful weekend, sweetie.
